Estate Sales News at A-1 Auction in Maitland Fl. 2 unique estates

We spent time at A-1 Auction in Maitland, Florida. They were conducting an auction for two different Florida estates that had items the heirs felt were best sold at auction.

Doug & Paula White started as a small auction company 32 years ago this month. They have been holding auctions at the Maitland Civic Center for 29 years. One of the estates today was from a former power plant engineer at NASA. His wife had been working with Bonhams Auction House who recommended they contact the Whites of A-1 Auction.

The second estate contained items from the Tetley Tea Mansion in Charlottesville, VA where the owner had originally lived before coming to Punta Gorda, Florida.

There was a wonderful collection from one gentleman of French clocks.

Doug White said ” we are doing four auction sales a year, winter, spring, summer, and fall. This way I have time to get really go quality items, research and provided heavy promotion for each auction”. A-1 Auction has a worldwide audience and offers real-time online bidding, plus phone bidding as well as left bids and live on site bids. Doug also said “I discourage reserves for three reasons. If an item doesn’t sell I don’t get paid after all the work, research and advertising, the buyer doesn’t get the item they want to leave with, and the seller doesn’t have a sale”.

A1 Auction has a sellers commission which works on a sliding scale with the value of the item and a buyers premium.

Estate Sales News appreciates the time A-1 Auction gave us on a busy day.
