Repurposing & Upcycling Original Art By GadgetSponge.com From Estate Sales
We recently interviewed nationally known repurposing and upcycling artist Brian Carlisle, of Gadgetsponge.com “A New Spin On Old Objects” of Shreveport, LA.
Brian’s artistic talents and vision have enabled him to create unique and original art pieces. His creative passions have allowed him to see the endless possibilities of everyday items that can be found at estate sales, and with his genius become fanciful repurposed and upcycled original pieces of interior art.
Brians’ early career was as a graphic artist who enjoyed putting his creative juices sporadically to work on weekends. In 2010 he decided to let his fervor to fashion unique art become a full time business.
We asked Brian about what he looks for and finds at estate sales to use in his artistry. He replied ” vintage wooden water skis, old porcelain enamel heaters, vintage toys or tin objects that are broken, yard sticks, silverplate (including trays, pots, and utensils), old sewing machine bases, retro kitchen canisters (especially if they are unique), house hardware such as hinges, bath fixtures, door knobs, (and emphasizing parts and pieces such as screws etc. should not be discarded).
Brian’s specialty is birdhouses for interior art decor. He does create other artistic pieces, but always with the concept that each must be unique, original, and a one of a kind.
