Estate sale companies are discussing what’s hot at estate sales. Mid-Century Modern is still what is hot.
Mid-Century covers a period of furnishings from 1935 through the 1960’s.
In April of 2015, Curebed.com featured an article by Laura Fenton entitled “Why The World Is Obsessed With Midcentury Modern Design”. To read this fascinating article click on this link.
Mid-Century is one of the hot items in most areas of the country at estate sales. Estate sale companies heavily advertise any furnishings that may be in their estate sales.
Estate sale etiquette should be used even in the summer heat.
In the summer, many homes may not have air conditioning, With hot and humid weather shop estate sales and be prepared. Wear light weight clothing to keep you cool, have plenty of water in your vehicle (preferably in a cooler) and bring your patience. Estate sale etiquette is always needed and even more when the temperatures rise.
Estate sale staff working under these conditions are taxed by the heat and humidity as well. They have been through setting up the sale. Now they are handling the crowds that come through the property. Most estate sale companies will try to provide fans to keep the air moving if there isn’t air conditioning.
Buyers tempers can flare under hot weather conditions so be prepared. Entering the premises with your mind cool and with knowledge about the rules of the estate sale company makes a difference.
If you have items you want to purchase check with estate sale staff or the liquidator before the sale starts. Ask them if they limit the number of buyers in the home. Can they bring in purses or bags. What order do they work with customers. When you want to purchase items how do they handle them. Do they put them aside marked sold? Knowing how things work inside the estate sale will help buyers and prevent confusion or misunderstandings with estate liquidators.

Estate sales in summer are not garage sales. During the summer it is easy for shoppers to think that because an estate sale is being held in the summer months this should result in lower prices.
An estate liquidation is not the same type of sale as a garage or yard sale. Estate sale companies are professional liquidators.
A garage or yard sale is not run by a professional liquidator. Garage and yard sales are run by homeowners or tenants looking to eliminate accumulations of items no longer wanted.
A seller(s) hires a professional estate sale company to liquidate their contents. Estate liquidators understand the value of the contents of a home. Items will not be priced in nickles, dimes or quarters. Seller(s) expect them to obtain the current market value in their community for their belongings.
Estate sale companies may use Craigslist to advertise their sale, but that does not classify it as a garage sale.
Reaching the broadest audience possible is the goal of estate liquidators. This could be listing estate sales on advertising listing websites such as EstateSale.com and/or other advertising listing websites. It may also include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, and Pinterest. Most estate sale companies also have their own websites.

This time of year is a excellent time to shop for beach or large bath towels, patio sets, picnic baskets, swim suits, and summer clothing, pool items such as rafts or tubes.

This is a great time to look for extra dishes, cutlery, bowls and platters, and all those plastic storage containers for leftovers.
For those that like to grill this is another opportunity to shop at moving sales. Most movers don’t include a grill. You might find the grilling tools as well.
