Estate Liquidators Wear Many Hats With Expertise

Estate liquidators wears many hats with expertise in a variety of fields associated with the liquidation of personal property.

Personal property liquidators are individuals earning a living as entrepreneurs. They do not work a five day a week job from 9-5. Estate liquidators require time management ability, motivation, dedication, knowledge, marketing skills, and more. They must determine their schedule, time, and requirements for each estate sale.

An estate sale liquidator must know and understand what the estate sale process is. Liquidators need knowledge in selling personal property. Estate sale company owners will work endless long hours and weekends. Often with no days off for weeks at a time.

Estate liquidators need to be a business person, salesperson, and negotiator. Liquidators have to be able to handle any situations that arise during the sale.

Information On The Estate Sale Business?

During the last three years EstateSalesNews.com has been writing and providing information on the estate sale business.  We have report news and information on a wide range of topics for buyers, sellers, and estate sale companies.

We share our news and information on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. We have created 49 boards on Pinterest up to now to focus on news worthy estate sales, videos, and of course the great things found at estate sales from vintage to antique and new to repurposed.

For buyers we have discussed estate sale etiquette, the different types of entry estate sale companies use (sign up sheets, numbers, a well formed first come line), how to approach a liquidator about a discount, where to find estate sales, forms of payment accepted at sales, what to look for in signage such as all sales final, no exchanges or no refunds. We have discussed what to take with you to sales such as packing material, flashlight, magnifier, and even how to organize your route.

Sellers we have provided a printable step by step sheet for how to find, interview and hire an estate sale company that provides you with a feeling of trust, honesty, and integrity. Here is the link (also at the top of our front page) to answer the questions of sellers looking to hire an estate sale company.

Estate Sale Listings On Social Media Becoming Popular

Finding estate sales on social media is becoming very popular.

Many estate sale companies are using Facebook, reddit, Google+, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube to attract the attention of buyers.

Estate sale companies like to reach the broadest audience possible and social media is growing by leaps and bounds.

A posting of an estate sale that is boosted can reach a national audience without competing with the sale listed right below it. Many estate liquidators are finding they get more bang for their buck using social media. Most still list on estate sale advertising websites, however, getting their message out and showcasing what will be for sale is vital to the financial bottom line for sellers and estate sale companies.

When you attend an estate sale, ask them if they post their sales on social media? It may require you to join to be able to view, but with privacy controls you can still see your local estate liquidators and their sales without becoming fully engaged on the media.

The estate sale shown below was condcuted and completed, but appeared on Facebook, along with it’s original listing on EstateSale.com. You may even find that you will see some photos, or additional closeup photos on social media.

Whatever you choose to do don’t miss out what is being featured on social media. You’ll find EstateSalesNews.com on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube.

Estate Sale Advertising Is Now Big Business

Estate sale advertising is growing. The number of companies  offering various types of advertising is increasing. Businesses have been created to meet the demand for getting the information out. Some are paid by estate sale companies and some through advertisers.

You have the major estate sale advertising listing websites and they have now included auctions (both online and on site) as well as social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube, Google+, Instagram, email services, and craigslist.

Although most estate sale companies have their own websites, several successful companies utilize a variety social media to get their estate sale information out to the public.

The advertising listing websites offer estate sale companies the opportunity to post hundreds of photos,  a list of items for sale or descriptions, the ability to feature their sales, email notifications to their subscribers, and the ability to search for items. All three charge fees to be listed, some more than others, along with some that offer advice about estate sales, however, this information is based on conversations with liquidators. Their information is not based on their own experience. This was written about in the autumn of 2015 here on Estate Sales News in response to our survey questions. They are advertising sites for estate sale companies and estate sales that are compensated by estate sale companies.

Many estate sale companies don’t have their own websites and use Facebook to reach out across the country for buyers. Success can be attained in a variety of ways.

Whatever social media you use it’s one more tool for sellers, buyers, and estate sale companies.

Columbus Day – Tole Painting – It’s Not New

photo-47Tole Painting has been around since the 18th century. It started in New England as a form of painted decoration. It was also popular among German Immigrants in the Amish countryside. French tole paint, also started in the 18th century is usually done with black on on a solid back background and still very prized.

5 Years ago or so it was very popular along with chabby chic.

Today it depends on the part of the country and what the painting is. Some is very colorful (the magazine rack was painted by your editor’s mother in the 1950’s) some is done with just gold or white on a solid background and some was done in black (popular) with French tole painting.

Tole painting was originally done mainly on tin and some wooden items.  As time passed many different metals as well as wood were used. Everything from coffee pots, magazine racks, as well as hope chests, planters, and a variety of items are tole painted.

Look for different and great pieces of tole at estate sales, from lamps to trays, coffee pots to waste baskets.

Advertising Estate Sales and Estate Sale Companies – Social Media, Websites, Success

BlogThe internet has become the worldwide method of communicating and that is especially true for advertising.

There are so ways and places to advertise.

If you are advertising estate sales there are many estate sale listing websites out there to list your sales on. They offer packages for advertising and some may even be free. They may even offer social media connections.

Estate sale companies can also advertise on Facebook (free unless you boost your post or promote your website or page), Twitter (where you can tweet several times a day up to 140 characters including during an estate sale), Google+ (you will need a gmail account) where you can post everything from videos to photos and descriptions, reddit (descriptions etc.), LinkedIn where you can showcase your business and personal history and make connections with others in a variety of fields, YouTube for videos, Pinterest for showcasing your individual estate sales or items you have had for sale, and you could also offer an RSS feed (allowing others to follow all your posts). You can also consider writing a blog. Keeping people engaged is the key to success for media marketing.

Sellers when you are considering estate sale companies ask them to show you their advertising and provide you with where and how they advertise. In rural areas and some metro areas some estate liquidators continue with print media as well for those that may not be internet connected.

There are also several organizations out there as well that you can join including the American Society of Estate Liquidators (they will educate you as estate liquidators and help you in learning to promote your company) The Antiques  & Collectible National Association also welcome membership.

There are so many websites available for estate sale companies and liquidations and many liquidators have dedicated internet techs and bloggers.

Advertising is a staple for good business. If you have questions email us at contact@estatesalesnews.com and we’ll offer suggestions where possible.
